"DEPTHS"
The work explores the philosophy of transformation, interconnectedness, and constant movement within living systems. Inspired by natural mechanisms and the depths of the sea, it creates a sense of an inner world filled with the flow of life and the harmonious resistance of time.
Conceptual narrative:

"DEPTHS" is a monumental, non-geometric sculpture in high relief that explores the captivating synergy between structural topography and expressive abstract painting. Formed as an elongated, biomorphic monolith reminiscent of a rare subterranean mineral, a fossilized gemstone, or a tectonic cross-section, the artwork conveys the raw kinetic energy of hidden natural forces. Deep, dark abyssal fissures collapse inward, channeling fluid, sinuous streams of rich turquoise, emerald, and azure that cut through vibrant fields of hand-applied gold foil. This commanding, avant-garde artwork captures the essence of deep-sea trenches and mineral formations, imbuing high-end contemporary spaces with an atmosphere of luxurious organic sophistication, profound mysticism, and dramatic presence.

Visual and sculptural impact:

The artwork measures a substantial 7 cm (2.8 in) in overall thickness and features multi-layered hand-carved incisions and reliefs ranging from 2 to 3 cm (0.8 to 1.2 in) in depth. The complex, multi-textured surface serves as a rich, tactile canvas, painted with water-based acrylic pigments and coated with high-quality gold leaf (potale). Deep, sinuous channels, microcraters, and biological cells are filled with high-quality, glossy, hypoallergenic resin. This creates a mesmerizing, glassy, "wet look" effect, mimicking flowing liquid water trapped within geological rock, dynamically enhancing the intensity of the blue pigments and creating shifting reflections as the lighting angle changes throughout the day.

Technique and Craftsmanship:

Meticulously handcrafted through a highly disciplined, multi-week process of sculpting and painting. The base is crafted on a durable, custom-made plywood board. The sculpture features an internal, dotted, reinforced structure, guaranteeing absolute structural strength and preventing deformation under a 7 kg weight. The complex biomorphic topography is achieved using high-quality polymer compounds, followed by precise, continuous hand carving and hand finishing to create sharp ridges and deep linear depressions. The piece is then coated with high-strength cement and structural gypsum mixtures, painted, gilded, and selectively coated with museum resin and protective varnishes for maximum durability and UV resistance.

Hand-made mixed media high-relief sculpture and painting (plywood, polymers, plaster, cement, gold leaf, selective hypoallergenic resin, water-based acrylic paints)

  • Frame: Unframed. The raw, sculpted biomorphic edges flow organically, creating a flawless, borderless architectural accent on the wall.

  • Installation: Ready to hang. Equipped with an industrial metal hanging system tested to withstand up to 40 kg (88 lbs), ensuring maximum structural security and perfectly level mounting.
