Conceptual narrative:
"The Rotation of Silence" is a monumental, non-geometric sculpture in high relief, executed as an open, asymmetrical tondo, visualizing the silent, continuous movement of cosmic and natural cycles. The composition is distinguished by the striking silhouette of an open ring with a sharp, ascending ridge on the left, beautifully imitating a dynamic vortex, a fluttering fan, or a flowing drapery frozen in mid-rotation. Completely eschewing color in favor of a flawless, pure matte white, the artwork becomes a meditative portal. It captures the invisible flow of air and time, bringing an atmosphere of absolute architectural tranquility, ethereal luxury, and the avant-garde elegance of wabi-sabi to premium spaces.
Visual and Sculptural Impact:
The artwork boasts a substantial overall thickness of 7 cm (2.8 in), with multi-layered hand-cut incisions and waves ranging from 2 to 3 cm (0.8 to 1.2 in) in depth. The unique open-ring shape disrupts the rigid lines of contemporary architecture, allowing the color of the wall behind the central space to become an integral part of the artwork. The pristine white finish serves as a precise canvas for natural light, creating ultra-soft, velvety gradients of white and gray shadows. Dozens of fine radial channels create a subtle kinetic illusion, making the sculpture appear to gently expand or rotate as the daylight changes in the room throughout the day.
Technique and Craftsmanship:
Meticulously handcrafted through an intensive, highly skilled, multi-week sculpting process. The plywood base is custom-made. The sculpture features an internal, dotted, reinforced structure, guaranteeing absolute structural strength while weighing 10 kg. It is specifically designed to distribute loads around a graceful central cutout and tapered edge. The smooth, biomorphic topography is created using high-quality polymer compounds, followed by precise, continuous hand carving and hand finishing to achieve seamless, flowing ridges. The piece is then coated with high-strength cementitious and structural gypsum mixtures, painted with matte white water-based pigments, and finished with a high-quality protective water-based acrylic varnish for absolute durability and UV resistance.
