"CRATER OF CONSCIOUSNESS"
MATERIALS:
plaster, acrylic, varnish,
liquid silver leaf
This abstract bas-relief explores the topography of subjective experience through the plastic metaphor of layering and erosion. The concentration of depressions and raised lines creates a model of internal geography—traces of early decisions that shape the subsequent structure of the self. The tonal patina emphasizes the depth of the cuts and draws attention to the dialogue between presence and emptiness.

"CRATER OF CONSCIOUSNESS"
This bas-relief is like an imprint on a layer of time: the curves and depressions recall the first steps of choice, those subtle fractures from which personality emerges. Passing their gaze over the relief, the viewer seems to read a fragile chronicle of discoveries—of how one small will leaves a trace on the entire surface of existence.
Conceptual narrative:

"Crater of Consciousness" is a monumental, non-geometric high-relief sculpture that functions as a profound visual excavation of the human mind and cosmic topography [Artsper]. Completely abandoning traditional rectilinear frames, the artwork takes on a complex, free-flowing biomorphic silhouette that resembles an ancient meteorite fragment, raw geological strata, or an expanding neural node. The composition centers around three smooth, shimmering metallic reservoirs — symbolic "craters" representing deep focus, introspection, and hidden memory pools amidst the chaotic, undulating fissures of life. This commanding vanguard masterpiece brings an atmosphere of heavy brutalist luxury, raw archaeological mystique, and sophisticated drama into high-end contemporary spaces.

Visual & Sculptural Impact:

The artwork features a substantial 8 cm (3.1 inches) total thickness with multi-level hand-carved incisions and reliefs starting from 2 cm (0.8 inches) in depth [Artsper]. The organic perimeter breaks free from structural wall boundaries, allowing the piece to integrate seamlessly into modern spaces as an active architectural component. The foundational geological ripples are finished in a dark, light-absorbing charcoal matte coat that generates heavy shadows and micro-textures. In sharp, luminous juxtaposition, the deep undulating channels and central smooth craters are hand-highlighted with premium metallic silver pigments, creating fluid reflections that respond dynamically to changing ambient light throughout the day.

Technique & Craftsmanship:

Meticulously handcrafted in Barcelona, Spain, through an intensive, highly skilled multi-week sculptural process. The custom-shaped plywood foundation is internally armored and heavily reinforced from within to guarantee absolute structural permanence and prevent warping under its 7 kg weight, specifically engineered around the irregular biomorphic silhouette. The complex topographical folds are achieved using premium polymer compounds, followed by aggressive hand-carving and hand-shaping to sculpt each individual crevice, porous mineral node, and smooth crater pool. The piece is then seamlessly coated with high-strength cement and structural gypsum mixtures, painted with water-based pigments, silvered, and fully sealed for absolute archival longevity and UV resistance.
