"TRANSFORMATION THRESHOLD"
MATERIALS:
plaster, acrylic, varnish
Organic abstraction and contemporary bas-relief. Smooth, fluid forms, the composition is organized around a central, empty opening, from which undulating, tectonic folds of the surface radiate, their rhythm creating a sense of movement and gradual transformation of form.
The surface is created with an emphasis on smooth transitions: soft curves and sharply refined grooves combine to form a contrast between voluminous bulges and spatial depressions.

"TRANSFORMATION THRESHOLD"
The form seems frozen in a moment when the past has not yet let go, but the future already insistently seeps through the curves. The central rupture is not a void, but an invitation: to step across a subtle boundary and witness how the material surface takes on new characters. Smooth waves and sharp furrows whisper of time, leaving traces of metamorphosis that are unrecognizable at first glance.
Conceptual narrative:

"Threshold of Transformation" is a monumental, non-geometric high-relief sculpture (tondo) that intellectualizes the concept of metaphysical transition and new beginnings. The composition centers around a dramatic, smooth aperture, transforming the artwork into a literal and symbolic portal. Smooth, fabric-like waves and organic folds spread and ripple across the surface, mimicking the elegant movement of liquid silk, shifting smoke, or wind slicing through limestone walls. Using a flawless monochrome palette of pure matte white, the sculpture seamlessly integrates with the architecture, allowing the color of the wall behind it to become an active part of the artwork. This meditative artwork brings an atmosphere of absolute airy luxury, architectural purity, and the avant-garde elegance of wabi-sabi to premium contemporary spaces.

Visual and Sculptural Impact:

The piece boasts a substantial overall thickness of 7 cm (2.8 in) with multi-layered hand-cut incisions ranging from 2 to 3 cm (0.8 to 1.2 in) deep. Its round yet deliberately organic exterior silhouette softens the harsh lines of contemporary interiors. The pristine white finish serves as a canvas for natural light, creating soft, velvety gradients of white and gray shadows. The presence of a central void creates an unparalleled sense of lightness and depth, changing the volumetric rhythm as natural daylight moves throughout the room throughout the day.

Technique and Craftsmanship:

Meticulously handcrafted through an intensive, highly skilled, multi-week sculpting process. The plywood base is custom-made. The sculpture features internal point reinforcement to ensure absolute structural strength under a weight of 10 kg, specifically designed around the intricate central incision. The smooth, biomorphic relief is created using high-quality polymer compounds, followed by precise, continuous hand carving and hand finishing to achieve seamless, flowing ridges. The piece is then coated with high-strength cement and structural plaster mixtures, painted with matte white water-based pigments, and finished with a high-quality protective water-based acrylic varnish for absolute durability and UV resistance.
