Can you trust your own reflection?
"DARK REFLECTIONS"
Reflection as an illusion of reality. The surface doesn't "reflect" but "deforms"—just as memory distorts events, and a mirror distorts your face. This is a reference to the "phenomenology of Edmund Husserl": «Things are not given to us directly; we perceive them through layers of interpretation, as through the cloudy glass of our consciousness.»
Conceptual narrative:

"Dark Reflections" is a monumental square sculpture in high relief, a profound meditation on the hidden depths of the subconscious, nocturnal landscapes, and cosmic duality. The composition features a striking series of horizontal, flowing waves intersecting two emerging textured celestial spheres, simulating a dark lunar reflection on moving water or a planetary eclipse. By limiting the color palette to an absolute, uncompromising obsidian black, the artwork completely draws the viewer's attention to the rough topography of the form. This powerful avant-garde work is designed to bring an atmosphere of mysterious, minimalist luxury, quiet strength, and brutalist elegance to premium contemporary interiors.

Visual and Sculptural Impact:

The artwork boasts a substantial overall thickness of 7 cm (2.8 in), with hand-cut incisions 4 cm (1.6 in) deep, creating a dynamic, three-dimensional presence on the wall. The majority of the panel is coated with an ultra-matte, light-absorbing, velvety black finish, casting deep, architectural shadows. In a masterful artistic contrast, the low valleys and flowing channels are selectively filled with high-quality, odorless, and hypoallergenic glossy resin. This creates a mesmerizing "wet look" effect, making the recesses appear as if filled with liquid mercury or dark water, which captures and reflects ambient light as the viewer moves through the room.

Technique and Craftsmanship:

Handcrafted through a complex, multi-week sculptural process. The painting is constructed on a durable 100x100 cm plywood panel. The bas-relief features an internal armored and reinforced structure, guaranteeing absolute structural strength and preventing deformation over time. The smooth, undulating relief is sculpted using modern polymer compounds, after which the deep ridges and cratered textures of the planets are carefully carved and hand-finished. The panel is then coated with high-strength cement-gypsum mixtures, painted with deep, matte black water-based acrylic pigments, and selectively coated with high-quality resin for an archival, UV-protected finish.
Handcrafted high-relief sculpture made of mixed materials (plywood, interior armor, polymers, plaster, cement, selective hypoallergenic resin, water-based acrylic paints)

  • Frame: Unframed. Clean, structural black edges are fully finished, transforming the artwork into a graceful, self-contained architectural monolith on the wall.

  • Installation: Ready to hang. Equipped with two industrial metal hangers, rigorously tested to withstand a load of up to 40 kg (88 lbs) per hanger, ensuring absolute structural security and perfect adhesion to the surface.

  • Authenticity: Signed by the artist on the reverse. Accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity.
